Canon, in my opinion, have produced a real Turkey with the 7D, on paper it looks fantastic, even in the hand it feels fantastic but the image quality is absolutely dire, I utterly regret buying one. I am used to the image quality of my 5dmkII and 1dsmkIII and I am aware that this is a smaller sensor producing a smaller file but this camera does not produce images any where near worthy of its price point. Even much cheaper Canons are capable of sharp images which the 7D simply is not, its images are mushy, soft and lacking in detail...and there is really no getting around that. I am hugely disappointed and that I just spent £1500 on a camera that is unusable commercially even for editorial work.
I have written to Canon asking them what went wrong and to do the right thing and recall the 7D (I am an Advertising Photographer and previously shot full time for the Independent Newspaper in London, I am otherwise very happy with my other Canon cameras) Last edited by Nick T; 12-02-2009 at 08:16 PM. |

I just thought "screw it" and bought the 7D. And I love it! The images are great, and indeed they could be a tad sharper, but I don't care. They are of such higher quality than my 350D produces that I'm very, very happy with the camera! And I didn't just want it for the better IQ, I also wanted it for the built-in Speedlite master, the larger body, better controls, built-in spirit level, bigger & better LCD screen, weather sealing, video capability and better customizability.
