Default Planning to upgrade to 7D - Is it right decision?

Hello Friends

Right now I have EOS 50D. This camera is pretty good. I don't have a serious problem with it. Actually noise is the problem but I can handle it.

Now 7D just released and the features are amazing.

I need your advice. Is it the right decision if I upgrade to 7D? I have the budget to buy.

Please give me your opinion.

Thanks
Edy

Depends, but generally I'll say no.

What is it, besides the noise, that you don't like about the 50D?

Me? I'd say, have you gotten all the <$1700 lenses you want? Because if not, it might be wiser to buy the glass than a new body. Glass can last you decades; bodies, only until you want to upgrade. And, like computers, the longer you wait, the more features you'll get for a lower price.

nothing... I like my 50D.

But I am tempted by 7D... It has great features.... 18 MP, video recording, etc...

I have the budget for <$1700 lens...

Actually I have two option that I want to buy
first option is upgrading my 50d body to 7d body
and the second is buying 100-400 mm serie L canon Lens...

So what do you think?

Thanks

Hey, it's your money, spend it how you want.

Personally, my choice is simply waiting to see what the 50D's successor looks like. It's only about a four month wait to see, and chances are good (at least in my mind) that it'll inherit some of the 7D's feature set, just as the 500D inherited some of the 50D's.

+1. Spend it on glass, or put it away and save up for the next big thing.

Upgrade to 7D and join the many happy owners of Canon 1D series, Nikon D3, D700 and D300s.

Why do you have to suffer like the rest of other cameras owners?

I say spend the money on glass and slow down on the upgrades of the bodies.

Like you, I could easily afford to move from my 40D to a 50D or 7D or even further up the chain, but am taking better photos for now by getting to know my 40D intimately, reading camera forums on phototaking techniques and learning more and more post production using photoshop.

It is so easy to get a new body when you haven't even outgrown the old one as they are so tempting!

Go for the glass OR wait to see what the 60D has to offer.

Get some nice fast glass and you won't have to worry about noise
