I have a 50D and the 7D offers nothing useful that makes the upgrade attractive. (there are cheaper ways of getting a nice video option)

The next move must be to full frame - 5D markII

first option is upgrading my 50d body to 7d body
and the second is buying 100-400 mm serie L canon Lens...

So what do you think?

Thanks
Since each of us has a different hot button, it is up to you to assess which is more importance to you. However, here are my thoughts in this subject.

If you have lusted for the 100-400 for a while and plan to use it often then getting it will be the logical choice. If it is for occasional use then getting 7D is worth a thought. Ignoring your 50D, you'll be using the 7D 100% of the time.

If time is on your side liked not rushing to have a new toy by Xmas then you can wait and see what 60D will offer. I doubt it will have the extra processor to handle the AF system.

If you want a camera body that can handle focusing, tracking and high ISO well without paying for a 1D series body or go over to the Nikon camp then the 7D is your best buy at this time. It can be a calculated risk if you're the kind of person don't regret after making a decision.

If you dislike 50D's noise than the 7D maybe your answer. This is one area Nikon's D300s/D90/D5000 excels until the 7D (cropped sensors only).

The Canon 5D Mk II isn't that great in focusing and fps when compare with the 7D. Although it can produce wonderful images, you'll enjoy more with the handling from a 7D for general photography and fast actions.

I'm not your financial planner so please take note that all of above is to help you to spend your budget on gears not saving it for something else. Keeping your 50D is another option too if that's what you want.

I just bought a 7D and 3 x L series lens and its the best thing I have done . I have a 24-70mm L f/2.8 , 70-200mm f/2.8 and the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6and the camera is outstanding . I also have a 40D and a 500D so the upgrade wasnt huge but gave some nice advantages . I wont tell you what to buy but if it is a 7D you won't be disappointed , trust me.
