Hi,
Am looking into getting a Canon 7d for my expeditions.. Am planning on cycling around the world, walking New Zealand, climbing Mount McKinley.. More info here.. The adventure of a lifetime I have a canon 400d at the mo but am going to sell that and dip into savings for the 5D. Am looking to make a film/documentary out of this trip using stuff like time lapse etc.. I have limited space on my bike and it needs to be able to take a knock.. what lenses would YOU take if you where in my position? Might be able to take 3 depending on size etc Cheers..

tought question .. depends on room you have .. budget ....
But if it was me .. here is what I would take along Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Lens for those times when the ligth is poor Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM Lens - nice and light and really good glass or Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM Lens with a 1.4x or a 2x converter and maybe Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens Rick

I envy you, (but only a little). With some experience, I strongly suggest the 70-200 f/4. OR if your budget allows, 70-200 IS in either f/4 or f/2.8.
For a one lens walkaround. I would actually use the 17-55 f/2.8 IS. It's almost the perfect lens for your 7D. The optics are excellent. Oh, and also from experience. Buy and carry the best glass! You will only get one chance at every shot. Make it count! (except for a 50 1.8 which is cheap, light, and excellent) My most likely glass to carry on all trips (body may change in the future): 10-22 f/3.5 (in my kit) 17-55 f/2.8 IS (in my kit) 50 f/1.8 (in my kit) 70-200 f/2.8 IS (coming soon to replace my 28-135 which is too redundant and not long enough anyway) |
