Default Cyan glow

I just bought a new camera, a Canon 50D. I'm extremely frustrated, because a lot of my pictures have a cyan glow around all my subjects. I've never had a problem like this with any other camera. What setting do I need to change?

My settings for this picture were:

f/4
1/125
ISO 400

I'd love any help I can get.

That is Chromatic Aberration (CA) and is most likely a function of the lens rather than the camera. Try stopping down to f/8 and see if it gets better.

A lot of lenses of lower quality have a problem with CA.

Most of the good DAM programs and RAW converters have tools to deal with it too.

Good LORD that's alot of CA. As in, "I dont think that lens is right" kind of CA.

What lens was that? I've never seen that much CA before I seriously think you have a defective lens.

The lens I was using is a Canon 28-90mm. I've never had a problem with it before, but the last few months it's been awful. I don't have a ton to spend, but what would be a good lens for a Canon 50D. I mostly do portrait photography, so I would like a lens that is great for close ups as well as distance.

Thanks for the help.

Holy crap. Not normal!

Did you hit the lens on something? I would guess that an element might be out of position slightly, making the CA worse than usual.

If the lens is still in warranty, send it in to get fixed.

It does look like that picture is massively zoomed in too though, so it may only be a couple pixels wide, which would be normal. But then again, that doesn't look normal.

Wow! That's the worst I've seen. I would definitely get your lens checked out by a Canon Service Center to see what they say. Like everyone has been saying, it's most likely your lens that is the issue.
