    Default Canon's Video Snapshot: useful?

I was helping someone out with a new Canon body and we came across their Video Snapshot feature. (It's a fixed, few seconds of video for each shutter press, all glued together for a seamless video.)

I immediately dismissed it as useless, as I've never even been remotely interested in something that was a random collection of video bits that *I* didn't dictate the timing of transitions, etc. Canon may think that it's seamless (because it's in the same file on the SD card), but I don't agree.

Does anyone here find this feature useful? Have you ever thought: wow, I'm really glad they included this feature?

(I'm trying to be open-minded about this, but just don't "get" this one...)

Do you mean the ability to take still photo's while taking video with the Canon Rebel?

I have a Canon Rebel T2i and it can take still shots while in video mode and recording but it's useless IMO..during playback of the video, the video pauses for a split second and you can hear the 'click' of the camera taking the photo..not a desirable option IMO.

Nikon's mirrorless cameras have this. They call it motion snapshot. it essentially creates a Quicktime video thats a couple of seconds long (2-3). It would be better as a .gif.

No, I'm familiar with that feature. I don't use the "still capture" during video, but I at least see the usefulness (or the intended usefulness). Rather, it's the video snapshot like what OS mentions in the post above. And still something that I cannot see any value or why I would ever want or use it...
