Default camera - lens combos

I'm shooting with junk - 350d and mostly a tamron 18 - 200 3.5-6.3 though do have a nice canon 85 - 1.8 and REALLY need to upgrade.

I'm just wondering on people's thoughts as to good camera, less good lens or the other way around. As ever money is an issue, but again, I don't want to buy and then only have to re-buy in a year or so. I tend towards better lens, older camera.

What am I thinking?

a used 50d and a canon ef-s 17-55 2.8 is
a 60d with the same

a 7d with a sigma 17 - 50 2.8

I need something that handles noise and low light. Good, everything handles noise and low light a whole lot better than what I have now, but...

well, any thoughts. Worth going for the 60d over the 50? Worth going to the 7d if it meant the lens couldn't be as good?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You'll see no visual difference between a 7D and 60D; they use the same sensor and image processing. There are a few other differences (swivel screen, FPS shooting, build) but are they worth the money? It depends on what you need.

I'd say go 60D over 50D, just because of the sensor. The T3i/60D/7D imager is considerably better than the one used on the 50D.

+1 on the 60D (unless you are shooting sports etc)

I'm going to side with the posts above. I like my 60D.

that 17-55 is fantastic.... 60D with that or find a way to fund a 7D with it.
