Default So I'm selling my camera....

And one of the potential buyers asked for a shutter count and when I looked it up, I was astonished...583,386. How accurate are these online shutter count programs?

If I'm not mistaken, it depends on the camera. Some Canons don't have shutter counts that are available to end-users. When I had my 30D, for instance, I couldn't see an accurate shutter count, but my 40D does. I believe there was some way for a tech to get a count on some of the cameras that didn't expose that info to end-users.

What model is it? Some of the Canon models don't maintain a user-visible shutter count, and programs just grab some garbage data and report that instead.

It's a Canon 1Dmk2.

As far as I can tell, Canon's SDK won't work for the 1D, but this claims to be able to get a shutter count:

I can't vouch for it personally.
