Default had my Nikon gear stolen

since i had my Nikon gear stolen, i am considering Canon. I had a Nikon D80 and am torn between the T3i and the 60D.

I'm used to having 2 "wheels" and a top LCD screen. I'm just wondering if I would really miss these features.

I would appreciate any thoughts.

Why switch to Canon? Not that I'm against Canon, that's what I use. If you're used to Nikon, it may be difficult to switch to Canon.

But for the T3i vs 60d, it really depends on if you will be using all the features that the 60d offers, and your budget. Its generally better to get the lower end body better glass than vice versa. What kind of photographs do you take? Maybe some more information would allow us to give you a better opinion.

My biggest reason for change is the ergonomics of Canon. The T3i and the 60D just fit my hands better.

I shoot weddings, school pictures (mostly senior pictures), and little league sports. I also have done family portraits and baby pictures.

Though, I do use a tripod for my portrait shots.

What concerns me about the T3i is the temptation for chipping. But budget is part of my decision.

Personally, I'd have a hard time giving up the extra wheel. My sister got a D5000 (I believe) a while back, and the couple times I've picked it up, I've had a devil of a time trying to figure out all the extra button presses to do stuff I can do w/ one of the dials on my 40D.

If you are shooting events, the 2 wheels are SO important. 60D is the one.

Just remember everything that turns left on a Nikon, turns right on a Canon.

I have a 20d and love the two wheels. Played around with a XSi and old XT, it takes some getting used to. If you've got the cash for the 60d and nice lenses go for it, its a great camera.

well, i was $275 short for the 60D no matter how I shifted bills lol

SOOOOO. I ended up getting the T3i with the kit lens, bag, 430 speed light, and tripod for under a 1k. Once I get through my gigs this spring and summer, I will pick up more glass and a 60D. The T3i will become my second camera.

I want to thank everyone for you input. It's greatly appreciated!

I justed placed the order and it should be here by the 2nd. so excited to start shooting and get in on the weekly assignments!
