Yes the ergo on the 60D is much nicer than the 600D's, but what good will that do you when all you have to go on it is a kit lens? This is why most folks go entry-level for their first dSLR, and then midrange for their second.

Thanks for all the info..Now I know what I should look for while going for my DSLR. Here all we talked about is 60D and 600D but here in India I visited the Canon Store and asked him Quotation for both and they both cost little more then 1000$ with only Kit lens of 18-55mm, he suggested me to check for 550D instead as only difference is adjustable Screen that is offers.NOW what I want to know here is... Is that the only difference that cause so much difference in price of 550D and 600D or is there something more to it that I missed it ???' . Beside what one of the canon dealer is offering with 550D is basic lens + Canon 55-250mm IS II lens.

The 600D also has wireless flash capabilities built in (the same as the 60D), that alone is worth more than the $100 USD difference in price. Whether or not it is something you need is up to you. Just know that if you want to add wireless flash to the 550D it will cost much more then the price difference between it and the 600D. Also, the money you save with the 550D really won't make much of a difference in buying new lenses.

If you had a bit more budget around $1500 then you can get 7D without looking back, 7D has many features over 60D or 550D/600D series, sure you will pay a bit more to get a bit more things for long term, but you will not go wrong with 60D or 600d or even 550D.

... if you want eTTL capable flash (i.e., are only considering buy a Canon flash unit). You can add wireless flash for much cheaper (radio triggers), but it will be a Manual only remote flash set up.

I just made the jump from Superzooms (a five year old Fuji) to dSLR with a 1100D (Rebel T3). While it is very much in the "scorned newbie tool" category looking at various internet forums, the combination of a great price, a plethora of additional lenses available and a solid if basic feature set sold me on it. A few days in I have yet to regret my purchase and am learning a great deal...which is goods since I have a great deal to learn ("f-stop? Didn't I see that on Dr. Ruth?).

Sure in a few years I will hopefully move up to something more "pro-am", but by then my son should be about ready to leave his point and shoot Kodak behind. Nothing wrong with upgrade hand-me-downs...after all that is how he got his iPad Mark 1.
