Default AF Points issue

Hi all

I was given an old 20D to use as a spare body and for my son to learn on. It works fine in all respects except one - 2 of the AF points are permanently lit up. AF still works fine and uses those and the other AF points fine.

Issue occurs on multiple lenses and in all modes. Have reset to defaults and still the issue exists. I have googled the issue but found no good info.

I assume this is an electrical issue in the body that I should just ignore, but if anybody has had any similar experience and/or resolution can you let me know?

Thanks

Isn't there anyone out there who has had a similar problem?

Never heard of similar. I would just ignore it.

I haven't seen anything like this. What happens when you use the focus point selector to indicate only one point at a time? Also, when you review photos, the screen will show you the focus points that were selected (I'm not positive this is the case w/ the 20D, but it's worth checking) -- does the camera think it actually used those focus points, or are they just "hot" in the viewfinder? I'm pretty sure that DPP also shows the focus points that were used for a given shot.

Nope - appears they are just permanently hot in the viewfinder. Can just ignore, but was hoping to flick it and put $ towards my 100-400. Might just battle to sell on with this problem..

Thanks guys

Could be a short in the AF point or screen wiring. If they are grounding out they will stay on. Might run the battery down faster or cause more to short out later.
