Default 7D remote RF trigger for speedlites?

Hey everyone - sorry for the very basic question, but I didn't see it answered anywhere and I can't find it in the specs on the Canon site. Does the 7D have remote flash triggering capability? If so is it IR or RF? I'm looking to possibly pick up a 7D and this is a big item for me...
Thanks!
Bill

The camera will remotely trigger compatible speedlights (such as 430 EX II and 580 EX II), but I'm not sure what the trigger mechanism is. I do know you can set different channels for different flashes or sets of flashes and the trigger window on the flash must be facing the camera, which suggests IR. The pop-up flash must be up and active in order for the remote trigger to work though, which suggests optical triggering (but I don't know if that would explain the ability to set different channels unless there is some sort of strobe pattern that is at work).

Somehow I don't think this is a really satisfactory answer, but I do know the triggering works and works quite well. If inkista takes a look at this thread, she may be able to provide more technical details about the triggering mechanism.

It's IR - I own Canon 580 flashes but not a 7D

See this video - around 6.30 .

Thanks Richard. Sorry I didn't think of you in my response to the OP. Inkista just usually comes to mind first when it comes to technical stuff regarding flashes; I think she has manuals in her head
