Sorry, I'm not the girl for this one. I've posted numerous times about how I hate the all-metal bodies and wish my 50D and 5Dii weren't so big and heavy and were more dRebelish. I'm currently going through a battle with carpal tunnel and I lack grip strength to the point where I drop coffee mugs. There's no way I'm interested (except theoretically by reading lots of websites) on a camera body with an integrated grip. I'm just good with the google-fu and interpreting specs.
![]() I'd suggesting hanging out at Rob Galbraith's website.

Inkista.....ummm.........You wouldn't want to find another home for your heavy 50D would you?

ah, too bad about your wrists. I definitely understand your pain. I always keep my cameras gripped, so its kinda nice that its already gripped and i dont have to spend more to put it on, and have to keep tightening the damn things down.
thank you for the link, Its a bit more in depth than the places I've read, and the low light examples it links to look really good (with a grain of salt because its a small web version) but even to be able to use a shot taken with 102400 ISO in any fashion is feaken great. It definetly bodes well for the much smaller ISOs. I can't (read "wont") use more than 1250 ISO on my 5Dmkii and 640 ISO on the 60D though I could definitely use more than that. I could use it a LOT. with the 1Dx I might even be able to get the northern lights shot that i've been trying so hard, but failing to get. |

I just suffer through the pain. Heroically. [I lie. I whine like a little girl. It really sucks when your fingers and palms continually tingle and zap you and can't hold on to anything. Neckstraps. Good things.]Quote:

I like what I'm reading about the 1DX, and if the build quality, weather-sealing, integrated grip, and shooting features are useful to you and worth the extra dough, I say try one out and go for it. But keep in mind that sensor/processor features tend to trickle down, more than they trickle up. The multiple exposure and high ISO perrformance are likely to be showing up in a few years on the lower-end models, like the 5Dii and 7D's successors, and may even roll downwards to the XXD, and XXXD models. If a year from now, an 8D hits the market with one-stop lower ISO performance (crop vs. full-frame), and the same multi-exposure feature, are you going to feel cheated? Or would the year with a full-frame 1-series camera still have been worth it? A 5Diii (or whatever they call it) is probably going to be less than half the price of a 1DX, and a 8D (or whatever they all it) would be even less. Then again, 10-shot auto bracketing and weather sealing never rolled downhill....

The onLy time i feel cheated is when i buy a cheaper unit and find out it doesnt live up to expectations. Like when i paid 1600 $ for my 60d only to find out that the kit lens that drove the price up to 7d levels was a huge pos. I almost always buy top of the line, theres nothing i hate more than buying the cheap version only to have to turn around and spend the money on the more fully featured model anyway.
I realise that isnt always the cheapest way to do things, but photography is more than a hobby for me, but something that influences almost everything i do or plan. Im also a bit of an extreme shooter and my equipment gets into alot of wet, cold and dirty areas, so im sure i'll be able to put to use almost every benifit of a 1 series camera. The extreme low light capability the 1dx promises has me the most excited though. If it delivers, i'd gladly pay the 1d premium. |

Yeah, definitely sounds like the 1DX is a good candidate for you.

This I think I would like to hear more of. Did you ever get the shot you were looking for? |

Eh. kinda sorta. Video was a better medium for this than still images, but I don't think in moving images that easily. I snagged a short clip that I like, but nowhere in the league of one guy who normally film surfers. His piece on vimeo is amazing.

Yeah, the rebel series is much lighter, almost too light, but that's what makes them affordable to a lot of people. Just have to be careful with weather and dust, oh and lens weight! As far as feature set...well, that too makes the rebel series affordable (and sometimes a pain). Can't blame a guy for trying?? ![]() I'm sorry about your pain. Having to deal with obstacles is one thing, but pain is another. If only I could make the lame to walk and the blind to see......... Tzetsin, pardon my intrusion, I was interested to learn about the new 1Dx from a different source than the mags myself and found an opportunity to insert some humor (hoping that Inkista would take it well).
