Default T3I to 5D

Hi boys and girl! I have a big question for you guys. I'm starting to get more and more inquiry about shooting and was thinking about maybe changing my camera already. I currently have a T3I + 50mm f1.8II + Tamron 28-75mm 2.8. Since the 5D Mark II is too much for my budget now i was thinking to get the old 5D that i can probably get for aorund 700$ (canada). But i would like to if it's a good move? What is really important to me is the image quality and the print size but the image quality is really the big one. So i want your output if it would be a good move to swap the T3I for a 5D since i dont even use the video output on the T3I. Will i really see a big diff in image quality and detail?

thannks a lot

Tommy

You're probably gonna get better results from the T3i, tbh. There are a few things that you'd gain, but you'll be hard-pressed to find them in most cases.

unless you want to spend a bunch more cash on lens to get the best out of that 5D, I would not change.

I have not done/ seen direct comparissions, but I would guess that the T3 iso capabilities are as good as the 5d.

5D mkii must be getting to the end of its life cycle, so maybe hold back... and if money is burning a hole in your pocket, get yourself some flashes or a longer zoom (70-200 F4 L) They would do things for your end product that the 5D alone could never get close to curing.

I would not have thought so but yeah, ISO-wise the T2i/T3i is not very much out of step with the 5D mk2 at all: dpreview studio scene comparison applet

The next iteration of the 5D should be announced soon, wait for it or look into some better glass, I would agree.

This.

The 5D demands good glass to get quality results. If you put cheap lenses on there, it'll show you how cheap those lenses are.

Remember, too, that the OP was looking at the original 5D, not the mkII version. That being the case, the T3i probably outperforms it.

10-22 would make a significant difference to your life!!

The 15-85mm would be a really good walk around option. The same as 24-136 on a 5D
