Default Help Choosing Bundle

I have a limited budget of $800.

I can get:
• Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital SLR Camera Body & EF-S 18-55mm IS Lens (Black)
• Canon EF 75-300mm III Lens
• Transcend 16GB Class10 SD Card
• PD 2x Tele & .45x Wide Lenses
• Spare LP-E8 Battery
• (2) Vivitar 58mm UV Glass Filter
• PD Digital SLR Camera Case
• RC-6 Shutter Remote Control
• Precision Design 57" Tripod
• PD SDHC Memory Card Reader
• PD Memory Card Storage Wallet
• LCD Monitor Screen Protectors
• PD 6pc Complete Cleaning Kit

OR

Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital SLR Camera Body & EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens
• Transcend 32GB Class10 SD Card
• PD 2x Tele & .45x Wide Lenses
• RC-6 Shutter Remote Control
• Spare LP-E8 Battery
• Vivitar 58mm UV Glass Filter
• Precision Design 57" Tripod
• PD Digital SLR Camera Case
• PD SDHC Memory Card Reader
• PD 6pc Complete Cleaning Kit
• PD Memory Card Storage Wallet
• LCD Monitor Screen Protectors

Basically the difference is the 2 comes with the 75-300 Lense.

Which is the better way to go? General camera use is sports, parties, etc.[/B]

based on what i see here: Specifications - Canon Rebel T3i vs Canon EOS Rebel T2i
The only significant difference is that the screen flips out on the t3i and does not on the t2i, the sensor is the same as far as i can see.

So the question is which matters most, having a fancy flippy screen, or an entire other lens.... for me, hands down get the glass, flippy screen is over-rated!

I think you need to wipe your eyes a little and look at the meat and potatoes.

The body + lenses + memory cards are the real value stuff. The rest is cheap and nasty junk quite frankly.

If you shoot sports and parties, then the Body + 2 lens combo would be best.
I would shop around for the T2i body with 18-55, then get other 70-300 from canon. The one you have listed is not great, it is not even good.
Here it is the better going pretty cheap!
Amazon.com: Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens for Canon EOS SLR Cameras: Electronics

I think thats a solid point as well if you eliminate identical items and stuff thats so cheap as to not effect the choice you get essentially:

so its choice between lense or flippy screen, and if you go flippy screen you get a lil bigger SD card.... could you use that money to build yourself a better kit without all the crap? Where are these bundles and why JUST THESE BUNDLES? Are you open to nikon? Sony? Mirrorless?

I think you'd find that 75-300 to be a limitation pretty quickly. I agree with gturner -- the 70-300 isn't an "L" lens by any stretch, and it's not even as fast as you'd really like for sports photography, but it's better than the 75-300 by a long shot, and it's a suitable lens for you to develop your skills.

[QUOTE=bigben6;1365367so its choice between lense or flippy screen[/QUOTE]

Not just a flippy screen...don't forget that the T3i also has the wireless flash capability from the 60D that the T2i doesn't have. So if multiple flashes are in your future that will be an added cost with the T2i. Probably more that the $100 difference in prices between the two bodies.

Yes, the sensors are the same. So either camera will work.

That said, I'd do some more looking around. Check places like B&H and Audorama. Make up your own "bundles" and compare.

+1. The memory cards and shutter remotes are the only valuable add ons in there, the rest is utter crap, and as said, the 75-300 is one of the worst telephoto zooms Canon makes.

Occasionally Canon will put out rebate programs where you'll get a camera, a lens or two, and a Canon printer, and once you factor in the rebate you're getting a pretty decent deal. But not this third party crap, usually with this stuff they're loading up your cart with a bunch of garbage and making a profit on the markup. Do your research first. Decide what equipment you actually want and then buy it. Don't waste your money on garbage you don't want and don't need.
