Canon Lens Box or White Box

I am looking at Canon 18-200 EF-S Lens it comes in a Canon Box and it comes in a white box both made in the USA. But there is a difference in price. What is there a difference in the lens quality that come in different box outside of the price.

Are you sure that one isn't an 'L' series lens? That would looking something like XXmm-XXXmm L IS USM ... the L is what denotes Canon's flagship lenses and are much more expensive than non-L lenses.

There isn't a 18-200 "L" lens.

Directly from B&H web-site:

"Note:White Box merchandise comes supplied in a plain white box, instead of the manufacturer's colorful packaging. It still includes all the manufacturer's accessories."

Basically you save money by not paying for the fancy box. Everything else about the lens is the same.

White box lenses come from certain kits. Canon has the lens in a white box that goes into the kit box in some cases: What they're doing is selling the lens and body from a kit separately. Retailers generally pay less for kits so they can sell them cheaper.
