Hi all,
I have a Canon 600D - everything has been going great on it till now. In the interests of honesty, I will admit that it has been dropped - once, on to carpet from the top of my computer tower, a distance of barely 50-60 cms. Since then my view finder is completely blurred. It doesn't seem to impact the rest of the camera (shots are still clear) and it is clear in the 'screen' view. I have tried adjusting it using the scroll-wheel beside the viewfinder, but nada. I don't live near any canon repair places, and it will be VERY expensive to send away. Any ideas what is going on? Or should I resolve myself to the cost and send it away. Or try and live with it? Jo Last edited by princessjo1988; 09-05-2011 at 03:31 AM. |

before you send it away- take a look for the "diopter" adjustment, should be a small lever or something near the viewfinder - i'm not sure where it is on canon cameras - but it will be in the manual. It may have been knocked when you dropped it...

I think he already did that as that would be the "scroll wheel". If that does not help, you probably knocked the pentamirror out of alinement. In that case, you will indeed have to send it to Canon.
Couple of things. 1: What side did it land on? This is more important then you would think. 2: is the AF display still in focus? Forget trying to live with it that way. It will make manual focus impossible. Although I have to say that I'm a bit surprised that this is what has failed. Even basic DSLRs are built good. I droped my 20d (yes a better build camera, but still) about 7ft off a ledge while rock climbing. The damage? A dent, nothing else.

I am pretty sure that it fell on battery side! And Af display isn't in focus either. :S
And I have tried cleaning the window. And yes, I meant the diopter adjustment. So I have tried it! I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and send it away!

If It fell on its bottom, defiantly check the focus screen.
