Default 7D upgrading to 5DMKII.. Need lens help..

I do mostly Architectural / Commercial photography. I am upgrading from my Canon 7D (I shoot with a 10-22mm) to a 5DMKII for the full frame features. In a perfect world I want to buy a 24mm Tilt Shift for it but I simply cannot afford it.

They have a package bundle for the 5D that comes with a 24-105mm f/4. Would I get the same full frame shots as I would with a 24mm tilt shift?

I was also thinking about just scrapping the bundle and getting the 24-70mm f/2.8. I cannot decide nor does my knowledge about photography allow me to decide for myself.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I have never used a tilt shift lens.

The field of view should be the same (with the tilt shift lens normal).
However the Canon 24-105 F4 IS L lens has a fair bit of distortion at the wide end.

(1) Here is an example at 24mm on a 5D. Notice the gutter. I have not tried to correct this.
Orthophonie

It may be correctable when PPing.

yeah definitely get the f/2.8 if you are doing architecture you aren't going to need more than a 70mm. that would be a great lens for you

distortion is no biggie, both lightroom and photoshop have profiles that fix that kind of thing for you.

I actually welcome the distortion. but i can see how in architectural photography you may not want it.

Hell no. The 24-105 is particularly annoying at 24mm with C/A and distortion. These aren't fatal flaws, since you can correct these in post, but it could be a PITA to have to do it for every shot. The TS-E 24L II actually beats the pants off the 24/1.4L, from all reports. Then again, it is slower.

The 24-105 is the full-frame L kit lens. Terrific walkaround/travel lens, and the stabilization is great for cityscapes at night. But as an architectural lens, I'd say it's good, but there are probably better choices.

Just me, but I'd say that this one is probably not that much better for your uses than the 24-105. Folks who get it primarily do so for portrait and available light capability. Just me, but if you really want a wide angle solution on full frame that doesn't cost an arm and a leg until you can get your TS-E, I'd say go for the EF 17-40mm f/4L USM. The cheap full-frame ultrawide. The EF 16-35 f/2.8L USM II is the higher-end choice, but if you don't need the f/2.8, the 17-40 apparently performs just as well or better.

And get PTLens or some other form of lens correction software to fix distortion and CA issues.

I was thinking he may want to throw part of a building out of focus for effect. That Is why i suggested getting the 2.8 Plus i don't think he is going to need 105 milimieters to get a photo of a building.
