Default Sigma Zoom lens - 17 mm - 70 mm - F/2.8-4.0 - Canon EF?

Sigma Zoom lens - 17 mm - 70 mm - F/2.8-4.0 - Canon EF

Anyone have experience with this lens? Do you like yours? I am considering this lens for later this fall. It is either this or a

Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM IF

Not sure I am too much up on the super zoom but I am pretty sure it will kick the trash out of the tamron 28-200 I just got rid of.

You're comparing apples to Buick sedans.

Yes, the 17-70 will be a bit better through.

If your on a budget and AF speed is not important, the Tamron 17-50 NON VC is considered one of the the sharpest zooms under $1000. If you need IS or fast AF, go Canon, you will be happier in the long run.

Good luck.

P.S. I'm in the same boat too. I just decided to suck it up and save for the canon 17-55 IS which has been called the "the EF-S that should be an L"

This was the route I took, and while expensive, I love that durn lens. As long as you don't think you'll convert primarily to a full-frame camera it's a solid investment.
