Cheers!
So, then, why are you not sure you made the right choice?

Really, for the beginner or amateur, it is a toss up between the two camps. The pros are the ones that may notice image quality and functionality differences between Nikon and Canon, but for most of us out there that aren't counting on their camera to earn a living it comes down to what feels the best. Camera companies and the photography media are all about the newest technology and the fanciest gadgetry, and that drives the purchases of the general public. It's why people have to get the IPhone4 even though their IPhone3 works just fine. It's all about the newest and shiniest. But in reality, debating why the D7000 is "better" than the 7D, based solely on the tech sheet is the same as arguing that the Subaru WRX Sti is "better" than the Mitsubishi EVO because the Subie has 6 horsepower more. The average person will never notice the difference in power, but they will notice how different they "feel."

I have to say, that when it comes to consumers shooting jpeg, they will notice the difference more. Most of the tech is their to do things for you, though it can give you less control or not matter when shooting RAW. It's when a pro shoots RAW, that there really isn't much notice. A pro is going to get a good shot whether it is with an entry dslr or pro.
Knowing how to expose and process is the big game changer when it comes to making good photos.

Actually, the amateur that only shoots JPEG, won't notice the real image quality difference, they'll only notice the in-camera processing more. But that certainly is not the criteria for making something "better." And the only reason that a person that shoots only JPEG would buy a camera like a 7D is simply because of technical hype and a "better then the Joneses" attitude. Again, to use the car analogy, the same reason a person would buy a race-capable car when all they will ever do with it is drive the interstate. They would be just as well off buying a Honda Accord rather than the Ferrari 430, but that's not "cool" or as impressive.
