7D Focus point flashing

Hello All

One of the focus points ( The second from the left on the center line as viewed through the viewfinder ) on my 7D has started to flash on and off red constantly as highlight any focus point. Also after the shot has been taken that same FP is shown as black through the view finder along with the point I used. I have updated my firmware but the issue has'nt been resolved,

Any ideas would be gratefully recieved

Hard reset: there should be instructions on how to do this in your manual.

I searched the camera manual, and could see any reference to a hard reset, however I found the restore camera to original settings in the menu, which appears to have done the trick.
Im now kicking myself for not thinking to do that first!
