Hi,
I've been saving up for a 60D for a while, and now a friend of mine is selling a barely used 5D Mark I (bought new in 2008) for pretty much the same price as a new 60D. I am having a hard time deciding which one would be the better choice. The 60D is newer and has some better features and more MP, but I would really love a full-frame camera. My husband thinks it's a bad decision to buy an older camera. What would you do? |

What lens does the 5D come with.
What do you mainly want to use your new camera for? I do own a 5D and 40D.

What do you want to use it for? And how many EF-S and L lenses do you own?
![]() If you mainly shoot landscapes, portraits, or do a lot of low-light work that isn't fast-moving action, and you can afford Ls, then the 5D. If you want to shoot fast action, video, or use wireless eTTL, or want to stick with EF-S and mid-range glass, then the 60D. Having a crop body means less worrying about corner performance.

It will be mostly for personal use, and maybe a few paid things (mostly event photography like birthday parties) and would hopefully open the door for more paid things. I'd like it to work better in lower light than my current xsi; I'm sure either of these would be better, but I don't know which is better between the two.
I have a Tamron 28-75 2.8 lens that I will be using on it. Both of these are body only. |

I would go for the 60D mainly because of;
(1) New camera - not second hand - with a warrenty.. (2) Better erganomics - mainly because of the flip out larger screen and live view. (3) Dust removal system (the 5D doesnt have one) (4) Higher FPS I'm not so sure the 5D high ISO performance would be better with the 5D compared to the 60D (it is better than the 40D)

I bought the 5Dc as an upgrade for the the 50D, as usual inkista is right on in the advice. The 5dc does not have the up to date features (no live view, flip out screen, video capabilities...) however you do get the benefit of the full frame sensor (Full frame 36.0x24.0mm vs APS-C 22.3x14.9mm)
I recommend going here Canon 5D vs 60D just to get an idea of what you get out of each.
