Default Question about Shutter Priority and 8fps in 7D

Hey everyone. I was having a problem last night. I was trying to take photos of a splash so I put it in shutter priority. I wanted a fast shutter speed to catch the droplets of water but the aperture number kept blinking and the images were way dark. It didnt even help to raise the ISO. The only time it stopped blinking was when I lowered the shutter speed. So that was my number one problem.

Secondly, how do I get 8 frames per second? lol I put it on high speed continuous but would only get 2 shots in full auto

Edit: I also hope this is the correct place to put this question lol.

You didn't have enough light to support the shutter speed and aperture you wanted. The 7D will go to 8fps but there has to be a lot of light hitting the sensor to allow it.

The aperture is flashing because based on the shutter speed you set (too fast) the camera can't open the aperture wide enough to give you a correct exposure. Solutions...use a faster lens, a slower shutter, or adjust the ISO up (or all the above)

Take the camera out of full auto and try doing it in one of the creative modes..."P" mode should work for you

Thanks I will try it again but this time with more light. It was pretty dark behind me and all I had was a light bulb on behind a purple screen.

Wow thanks! I finally got the 8 frames to work haha this feels so good to know more about my camera.
