My friend (not registered on the DPS website) has a Canon 60D with a 100-300mm USM lens. She says it shows her an error when she tries clicking pictures at 300mm. Something like "not supported" or "camera cannot contact lens" something of the sort.
Anyone here face this problem before? If so, please help! Thanks a ton. M*

Have her clean the contacts on both the camera and lens with a pink pencil eraser being careful not to get any fluff into the camera or lens and try again

Okay. Will do that tomorrow. Hope it works. Just out of curiosity, why a pink pencil eraser and not a cloth or something else?

Okay, let me just start off again. I asked her what the problem was and this is what she said:
"The lens flaps get stuck stuck at high apertures. While clicking with a high aperture setting, it automatically falls down to low. The zoom doesn't work either." Now does this make sense? I'm not sure if the eraser thing will solve this

Does she know what maximum aperture means?
The lens cannot go any wider than f/4.5 at the 100mm end of the range, or f/5.6 at the 300mm end of the range. As for the zoom: it's a pump-zoom: you push the ring towards and away from you. Turning it won't do anything.
