Probably close-up pictures.

Square glass or a round one?

Square. And it's red, if that helps.

Now guys be nice. She's a high school student. And a fledgling photographer...along with a great many of us here.

It's a legit question and the intent of this site is to offer people assistance, after all it does have School in its title.

Michelle, would that perchance be a Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens?

If so, and if I have my facts straight, it is sort of a general purpose lens, i.e. not a telephoto nor a macro. You can read more about them on DPS, and here:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Good luck with it.

Keith

Keith, the fact that you have to ask that lens question means it's not really a legitimate question, in my opinion. This thread just doesn't contain a clear question. I believe this might be the lens being referred to.

There's not really a question to answer, though, and she hasn't showed up again to clarify even slightly. I'm more than happy to help, but as the saying goes, "help us help you."

Kcoppock,
I agree that her wording could have been better and she could have made her request more clear. And you did try to help. But the thread seemed to digress after that and she may not have returned after being made fun of and possibly feeling bullied.

I just don't want to see a newby to this interest (hobby?) scared off.

So between youth, different education levels, lack of English skills among some of the international paticipants, and a myriad of other reasons, I feel it is better to practice patience.
