Default 450D er91

I had an embarrasing episode this weekend with my 450D. I kept getting an ER91 error, something about bad lens contacts. Swapped lens, cleaned contacts, changed battery, swapped Sd card. Stll the same. All this at my golf club AGM. Ended up taking some photos with a P&S.

Lesson.. have a backup camera.

I spoke today to the bloke in the camera shop who suggested a firmware up date and also to remove and replace the backup battery. The one that keeps the date/time and other settings. Point is where is it and how do you remove it. It seems that in the google society there are many and various opinions on a) whether my 450d has a backup battery and b) where it is.

Anyone with any thoughts?

Thanks in anticipation.

John W

PS just done the firmware update.

I don't own a 450D
According to the manual it is built in (see page 183 of the English manual).
Also see the note on Page 29 which indirectly suggests it doesn't have a date/time battery.

I do own a 350D and it does have a date/time battery residing next to the main battery. The manual tells you how to change it and the type..

Thanks Richard, from what I have found so far, it seems that it may have been included in some earlier models, but has since been modified so its no longer accessible.

Cheers,
