Default Canon T2i Battery Grip advice

I have a T2i with a battery grip. I like the feel in my hands as compared to without. However, for air travel, if you have a battery grip, do you find yourself taking it off and leave at home to save weight and make it more compact?

The reason Im asking is in purchasing a camera carrier set up... Im thinking Think Tank belt system or cotton carrier and there are bags for the "pro" version and the regular dslr version (w/o grip).

Thanks in advance

I have a T1i with grip. On a recent trip to the UK, I took it off and left it at home. I was fine without it, but I think that if I had it to do over, I would leave it on. It just didn't feel right... especially when you wanted to take a "portrait" shot. Sounds silly, but when you are used to being able to take portrait shots holding the camera the same as landscape, you miss it when you can't.

The grip comes off my camera on two occasions: When I need access to my battery (the D300s leaves one battery in-body) to recharge it, and when the camera goes on a tripod.

Other than that, it stays on.

I've developed my carrying technique (my bags) around the fact that I keep a grip on at all times. All my bags can take the camera body with grip.

What grip are you using on your T2i? I've been looking to buy one for myself.

Canon BG-E8 Batt Grip- T2i. Got it from my dealer for $220 when I bought the camera. Could have bought it for a bit cheaper online, but figured Id support the dealer for a wee bit more

The only time mine comes off is when shooting in questionable weather, as the battery grip compromises the weather sealing. Only really an issue if your body AND lens are weather sealed anyway though.

Mine hasn't been off of my 7D.
I think I would get a bag that will accept the grip. If you take it off it will still fit.
