Default third party 5D MKII grip

Hi,
I'm looking to buy a grip for my new 5d.
the thing is, canon's grip is way to expensive while the third party brands go for around 20% of canon's price.
do you have any recommendation on a specific brand?
the guy at my local store told me they stopped working with vivitar because they had some problems with it (while most of the reviews online are positive).

I just don't want to buy a third party brand just to find out that I need to spend the extra money on the original too.

thanks!

For this kind of thing, you might want to hit a more gear-oriented board.

3rd party grips for 5D mark 2 - Canon Digital Photography Forums

For the most part, folks who can afford to drop $2500+ on a 5D Mark II and want a grip prefer to step up to get the grip that's mag-alloy and weather-sealed. That's pretty much why the 5D Mark II grip is so much more expensive than the third parties.

I've read some reviews today.. can't really decide
do you have any idea if a third party grip can invoke the camera's warranty?

Hanel is pretty good... (not much of an answer, but they have been the one brand I have used with out issue)
That said, I always go Canon where I can.

thanks gturner,
I guess I'll wait and save for the original grip and that's it.
I've read the third party ones can be trouble.
