Default Canon 60d vs Canon 7d

Hi,

I'm new to the Forums, so please bear with me.

I'm considering buying a new Canon body (I currently own the Canon 40d), but am trying to decide if I want the 60d or the 7d. I'm one who believes to put my money in my glass (70-200mm/2.8f L IS, 24-70mm/2.8, etc.) and I love my lenses. I know that the digital bodies will continue to evolve beyond imagination, but I can always use my lenses on any bodies.

All that said, I need some opinions and recommendations. Have any of you done an up close and detailed comparision of the two? Just curious if the $500 difference between them is really worth it or should I put that toward another lens (I'm really wanting the 85mm/1.2f L series). Any and all comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Marjorie

Marjorie, both cameras are good, but if you're looking for a true upgrade to your 40D, it would have to be the 7D. With the non-magnesium body of the 60D it's not on par with the legacy xxD series. To me, the 7D is more of a prosumer grade camera than the 60D. But again, it depends on what you do, and how you use your camera. For my use, it would be a no brainer to go with the 7D...but that's me

Lot's of comparisons on the net.

I am a 40D & 5D shooter.

If you shoot sports & action (and I do) would be getting the 7D mainly because of its improved focussing and FPS rate.

If you are just wanting more megapixels and/or improved high ISO performance and/or the convienience of the flip out screen (and I am not) I would get the 60D.

If I was replacing my 40D because it it is about to die (mine has 120,000+ pics so I may be) and I was happy with the 40D performance I would get a 60D and put the money towards another lens (the only problem is I don't really need another lens).
