Unhappy Photo industry falling waaaaay behind

In an age of leaps and bounds being made in technology circles, camera manufacturers are pathetically waaaaaay behind.

For example,......

WiFi should be 'built-in' to EVERY camera made.
Mobile Broadband 3G/4G could be made optional (for the cams where it can fit)
Settings could be programmed to auto-post to a variety of social or photo sites.

Can't someone make a sensor that is sensitivity agnostic? It'd be nice to work with just two settings, aperture and shutter speed, period. The current tech is still just too noisy.

Wireless flash controller. Pocket wizard-like functionality should be built into every DSLR.

Why can't I control my DSLR from my iPhone/iPod/iPad WITHOUT cables or additional laptops+wifi. (OnOne? their solution sucks for anyone on the go)

Where's the game-changers out there? Oh, Apple doesn't make 'dedicated' cameras, that's right.

Connectivity: Your opinions echo those of Thom Hogan. He wants cameras to be connected somehow to the internet, and he's examined the practicality of the idea, but it never pans out. Take a look at it.

Sensitivity agnostic? As in without an ISO, or rather with a single fixed ISO? That wouldnt be very adaptable. Fine for studio shooters or landscape, maybe, but still VERY limiting. THe tech is not too noisy: WHen was the last time you used a D3s? Its not commonplace, but it's certainly not impossible. That, or your requirements/expectations are simply too high.

Wireless flash controller: Most Nikons (and now most current Canons) have this built in to all their flash units and bodies. If youre asking for radio transmitters/receivers, then yes I can understand. Again, Thom Hogan has requested that. If youre looking to have a universal transceiver to work with any receiver/branded receivers, then youre no further ahead.

The trick with connecting cameras and controlling them through i-devices is simple: Apple. They wont allow it. Even if they did, there are only 2 ways it would work: through a cell signal (3G/4G) or through wifi/bluetooth. A cell signal is FAR too slow (would have to go to a cell tower and back) and wifi/bluetooth isnt great and requires a LOT of extra programming that simply isnt there. It's also a function that doesn't provide a great cost/benefit for the company.

In all your cases, the cost and effort associated to the camera company far outweighs the benefit a VERY select group of users would experience. Thats why we have an accessories industry.

if you want all the stuff, get a good camera phone.

Very few times would I want to snap something at top DSLR quality and send it off without reviewing the raw and editing it on a large screen.

Why add a bunch of features that will never get used but which will drain batteries? Today's cameras already have too many features.

You can buy wi-fi-enabled SD cards and cameras with built-in GPS and even a few models with built-in IR. Personally I could care less about any of that. I can see that some users might finds some of those functions useful but not me.

Wanna make the ultimate digital camera for me? Give me a digital version of the old Canon AE-1, FD lenses and all, or one like my old Nikon FA or F2n or Pentax ME-Super. Better yet, give me an M3 Leica body built around an APS or bigger sensor and make it affordable. I know that's not gonna happen but I can dream.......

This.

Except in the case of crazy, super-fast-breaking news I would never EVER go from (real) camera to internet in one step.

I would not want to pay for all those "toys" for my dSLR - My D300 and D700 are just fine the way they are.

This was my thought: a camera that would post directly to Facebook would be something my daughter might dream of. I can't imagine any self respecting professional wanting it. Even in the case of late-breaking news, the publisher is going to want some sort of control even if you are happy to post it toute de suite.

If you don't like noise putting a wireless transmitter and receiver in a camera isn't likely to help.

Nowt stopping folk setting base ISO and only using shutter speed and aperture. I gather it's how some astrophotographers work....something to do with the same amount of photons being captured no matter what the ISO is set to. Wouldn't fancy it myself but it's there if you want it that way.

It WOULD be useful for large-scale realtime events (i.e. the Super Bowl), where they currently have interns running cards every 5 minutes. Of course, it would probably crash the network.
