What Essential pieces of kit would you recommend when starting. (Dont mention lens or body)

Such as tripod, bag, spare batteries, spare memory cards, cases, covers etc

Some of the essentials might change with the type of photography you want to do. You already mentioned some of the key elements, but to that, there's room for the addition of lighting, reflectors, light meters, filters, etc. A monopod might also be a good investment, but once again, the type of photography will tend to dictate what you will need. BTW, I'll be visiting your beautiful country in several weeks...looking forward to that

Thanks for the input.

Oh are you, where abouts?? Definitly DO NOT forget your camera lol

Literally every road in the countryside has amazing and endless photo oppurtunities, or you can dander across fields and find a nice photo of a flowing river or stone wall.

I live close to Belfast in Northern Ireland. I presume you are going to Dublin area?

P.S I just searched on ebay for a monopod because I had no idea what it was and it was what I have been wondering of this item over the past week. Thanks so much

Flying in and out of Shannon...staying and visiting wife's relatives in Roscommon. Her cousin is singer/songwriter Mick Banahan (Rig the Jig)..do you know of him? We'll be there for two weeks, and knowing my wife, we'll probably be covering the countryside from end to end

No I never heard of him.

Yea you will get some quality photographs here, But I dont know if you'll get the weather.

Its only ever raining, mild, windy, icey, cold or freezing here except for a few weeks over the summer.

Mick Banahan also sings and plays with a group called the Baileys, might you know of them? How about their version of Radiohead's song "High and Dry?"...maybe heard that? And thanks for the praise of our website....a collaborative effort of wife and myself
