Arrow 2nd Curtain on 550D

Hi, I recently bought a Canon EOS 550D (my first SLR) and am still learning all the different functions.

I decided that I would like to try out Slow Sync flash and results have been great. I am however, trying to figure out how to switch on 2nd curtain - or do I need a external flash with changeable settings for this?

Read the manual, page 147 on the version I found online. Most functions, like this, are only available in the "creative zone modes" P,Tv,Av,M and A-DEP for your camera.

If you are interested in photography and not just taking pictures, become familiar with the camera. Read the manual, download it to your computer so you can search it. Learn how the different settings affect your picture, the exposure triangle of ISO, shutter speed and aperture, there are many books that explain this.

Last, have fun. Learning the intricate workings on photography can be daunting. Have fun every once in a while. Don't lose scope of why you want to better yourself.

It can be done....

From the main menu page......
Select the first icon and then the last item on the page is "Flash Control"
Select "Flash Control"
A new menu apppears.....
Go to "Built-in flash func setting" and select it.
A new menu appears....
Second line down is "Sutter sync"
Selct and change between 1st and 2nd curtain.

Hope that's clear enough.

Bob
