I've wanted a 35mm camera for some time and decided on the AE-1 Program. Have now taken a good couple of films with it and really impressed.
The big thing for me, was not being able to 'review' the shot as per on a DSLR. This does make you think a lot more about composing the shot extra, but also adds a level of excitement when you go to get the film processed. I've got some nice shots on my blog. I'm not sure if it's normal for this camera, but there does seem to be a green tint to the shots. |

The green tint is because you are using film, there is no white balance. You fix this with filters.
I'm a proud AE-1p owner myself. Edit: sry, just noticed that I bumped a old thread.

Started with an AE-1P and then got an A-1 as an upgrade. Love those old cameras. But practicing with them got expensive. And since I didn't have a darkroom, had to take the film to the local drug store and wait a week to see if I got any decent images.
