Default Canon 50mm f1.8 question

I am looking at take a team photo with multiple subjects.
Would using the 50mm work? Or should I switch to using my kit lens?
I am just wondering about the DOF? Will I get clear images of the multiple subjects?
Thanks.

As long as you don't have your aperture wide open, you should be able to get good focus of everyone. Maybe f/8 or f/11.

Also, since you cannot zoom in and out, you obviously want to be in a position where you have room to move forward or backward to fill the frame
