hello there.
i am a newbie photography enthusiast. i have a problem with my Canon Kiss X3 SLR (Canon 500D with basic 18-55mm lens) where the image i see in my lens viewer vs the actual photo taken is crooked. i have this shot where i put my subject to the extreme left (leaving no gaps between the frame and my subject) as seen in my viewer but when i took the shot and viewed it in LCD screen (and later when editing it in photoshop), i saw a gap. can you help me how to correct this? i think it's with the way i set my lens that causes it. your replies will be a big help for me. thank you in advance.

Try Liveview unless it is caused by barrel distortion. Last edited by LoveDSLR; 02-03-2011 at 08:07 AM. |

@LoveDSLR
as it covers only 95%, this means the viewfinder is not reliable and i need to adjust the way i handle the SLR when taking shots? also, sorry for asking. where can i find the live view? is it a regular feature of Canon 500D? thanks for replying to my query. i appreciate it. |

It's built in to your camera. See your user guide.

That's right. With 95% coverage, it doesn't give you an accurate representation using the viewfinder. If that's important to you or as a requirement then you should check the specifications of your future purchases.
I don't have a 500D but I believe there is a Live View button at the back (the one with a red dot - DISP/Print/Share). Otherwise, check your manual. |

95% is ALMOST exactly. It's a tiny difference. You'll notice that the difference can be only a dozen pixels or so.
