canon xs 10 is

has anyone had a problem with the xs 10 is with a whirring noise. My camera started making a whirring noise (almost like when you are shooting a video) after I switched the dial to SPORT and although I reset to defaults, it continues to make this noise - I can still take pictures but don't understand this!! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Doesnt it still make the noise in the other modes?

If not, then its likely the autofocus motor being in COntinuous instead of single AF, which means it's constantly trying to focus.

If it does, then you may have a bigger issue.

I'm confused, are we talking about an SX10? Or a Rebel XS?

Either way, it sounds like your AF system went into Servo mode, so it's constantly trying to regain focus on moving targets nonstop; which is why it's going to be whirring an whining.
