Default Burst mode on 50d?

I have just started shooting multiple exposures for HDR processing, and have been taking each exposure manually. Most articles I've read mention shooting in "burst" mode; but, I have not found anything in my manual about that setting.
Are there any Canon 50d owners out there that know if this setting is available?
Thank you, in advance, for your help.

It's an option called continuous shooting and your 50D will have it. It may even have high and low speed setyings.

You may also want to check the manual for AEB (automatic exposure bracketing).

Neither is a new feature....would be surprised if you could buy a new SLR without it.

I've used the continuous shooting mode before, and I've been doing my HDR shots with the AEB; but, when in AEB, I can't get the continuous shooting to work . . . . I've had to do each exposure manually.

in AEB_Continuous shooting mode, your camera will stop after the pre-defined number of frames.
I know my camera can bracket 3, 5 or 7 frames in a burst... then it will stop.

you realise you should still need to hold thown the shutter release in order for the next frame to be taken?
This isn''t Interval timer mode, where the camera automatically takes pictures without you pressing the release.

EG. if i set my camera to bracket 5 frames, I can take only 1 at a time, or by holding the release all 5 frames will rattle off until i hit #5

50D can only bracket 3 images at a time.
Set the AEB compensation as you wish in the menu settings.
set the DRIVE to burst and hold it down for the 3 shots. If it is set to single shots you need to press the shutter release 3 separate times.

If you want more than 3 bracketed shots, change the AEB setting and extra stop either side and take another 3.

Thank you both for your responses. . . . . so, if I use a cable release, and lock the release down, it should work. Right?

Fastest way to go into continous/burst shooting is to use the quick access buttons by the top LCD. Hit the one labelled "AF-Drive", and then turn the back dial. There are two continuos burst modes, the one with the "H" on it is the 6 fps burst mode, the one without the H is the 3fps burst mode.

And if you don't have a cable release you don't want the camera to move while pressing the shutter.

To get around that, you can set the 50D to timer -- 2sec or 10sec -- press the shutter once and the camera will automically fire all three exposures for you.
