Unhappy How to safely remove camera from PC

I have purchased a new Canon SX 130IS. I don't wanted to install the bundled software - So , is it possible to transfer photo to PC without a memory card reader? How can I safely remove the camera from my system as I don't notice any icon in my system tray like pen drive, which I can easily stop manually ? Please Help.

98.6% of the time, if you have successfully transferred all your images across, and the transfer has finished, you can simply unplug your camera. If you're not happy with doing that (always format your card in the camera after you do that, you don't need to, but it's better if you do) there may be an icon down the bottom in your task bar near the time - I don't recall what it looks like as I've been on a Mac for too long... but right clicking on that will offer you the option to "safely remove hardware" --hope that helps.

As a side note: What is the correct way to remove a DSLR when using the bundle software? I usually turn the camera off and then take the cable out. Is that ok to do?

You must always dismount your camera because the PC thinks the CF or whatever card is a mounted drive. If you simply unplug the camera you may lose data or even ruin the data card.

Just click on the PC icon and eject it or dump it into the trash. Then it will be safe to turn off the camera and unplug.

As was stated above, always format your data card in the camera and do not discard any photos from the card into the computer trash. They are two different systems.
