I am currently shooting with a Rebel XS.. I am wanting to upgrade to a 5d or a 7d. both of these are capable of shooting higher ISO
I shoot mostly bands in low light with either a 50mm f/1.8 or a 28mm f/1.8... question now if I shoot at 1600 ISO I get alot of grain.. since these other models are capable of shooting up to 6400 or 12800 does that mean I wont get as much grain in the 1600 ISO range?? thanks KJ

Exactly. You'll get the same exposure, just less noise or at least less visible noise.

That's not quite true. If Camera A has a max ISO of 6400 and Camera B has a max ISO of 25600, the noise at those levels will not necessarily be the same: Camera B will, as a general rule, perform better than Camera A over the same ISO range.
