I just got my 1st dslr camera it's a cannon rebel xsi, The lens that came with it is a 55-250mm. I want to shot wild life pics. So my question is would I see a big difference in distance if I bought a Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD Telephoto Zoom Lens. I was also thinking of going with a teleconveter. Yes funds are a little tight.
Thanks to anyone that answers. Charlie |

No you would not.
At 300mm the image in your viewfinder will be enlarged by about 17% compared to 250mm. Re the TC; You may find this thread, on this site, helpful. X2 extenders eos 450d

Hehe, please dont.
A TC on an f/5.6 lens, even just a x1.4, means you end up with a 420 f/8, assuming the TC A) mounts and B) doesnt impact the rear element of the lens. That's worse than useless. Youd be better off looking at a 400 f/5.6L from Canon.

@ ChasDennis
I own both Canon lenses (55-250 - which doesn't see a lot of use) and the 70-300. The 70-300 iF4-5-F5.6 IS lens is a step up both in IQ & reach however it is still not really long enough for smaller wildlife or distant wildlife in the field. What and where are you wanting to shoot?
