I've been into photography for the majority of my life, starting with film camera's like the Nikon fe and the fe2. When things went digital my family decided to go with Canon, and it's been a choice we have not regretted. I started digital with my own Canon T1i, but now it's past time for me to upgrade. I've been able to use both my mother's 50D and brothers 7D and like both, so I'm torn when it comes to upgrading.
My options for upgrading are the 50D, the 60D, the 7D, or a used 5D Mark ii for not too much more than the 7D. What would you suggest getting? I'm blinded by the fact that 1. I already have SD cards and 2. I'm not 100% sure about buying (admittedly, a much better, bust used, camera). I use my camera primarily for portraits, but of course, I use it for almost everything. Because I know it matters, the lenses I have are the: Tamron 18-270 (crop factor only) Canon 10-22 (crop factor only) Canon 85 1.8 (both) Canon 50 1.8 (both) Canon 100-400 (both) If I got the 5D Mark ii, I would also be purchasing a Canon 24-70L. In the end, if money wasn't the deciding factor in this, what would you get if you were getting a new camera? |

you can read this post, it covers the subject. Going full frame Canon 5D Mark II or 7D
I would go for the 5D, but I'm into portraits mostly.

Sounds like the 5DmkII assuming it's in good condition, is your best bet. You can sell both your crop-sensor lenses for a pretty penny (especially the 10-22). You'll probably get about $1500 for both (at least here in Canada).
