Default Good, inexpensive camera?

anyone know of a good inexpensive canon DSLR camera? i'm looking to get one this christmas... but am still stuck on which one to buy... i'm looking for a wide range of things.. something that has a wide exposure rate, good DPI... and something with "high speed photography" settings.. (like 3-10 photos a second?)

anyone know of a good camera that kind of fits in to these margins that i can purchase (used or new) for $500-$600?

I was looking at the

Canon EOS Rebel XSi (or T1i?)
Canon 1000d

are there any else to keep in mind?

These are in groups

First you have the XS and the XSi naturally the XSi has more bells and whistles and higher resolution.

Then the T1i and the T2i - Same here

And the list goes on but you quickly get into the real expensive after this. I personally have and XS and a T2i and I like each of them for my own reasons. The T2i kicks the XS butt in low light. The XS in availability of low cost accessories and so on. I use each of them for different projects. The XS for normal shooting the T2i for stuff I know I am going to want to print huge.

All of these "crop bodies" will work with all EF Canon lens as well as third party lenses with the exception of a few older Sigma lenses which must be rechipped to work with the newer camera. Rumor has it Sigma will rechip these lenses for free.

All four of these cameras shoot in excess of 3 FPS

Mainly it comes down to how big do you want to print. Naturally the T1i will do much better than the XS in low light. At $500-$600 you are limited to the XS and XSi as the other 2 jump over $700.

You were probably asking about camera bodies when asking this, but have you considered that even getting a camera body cheap doesn't mean that the spending stops there? You still need lenses, and that's where it really starts adding up. So when you're deciding on what lens to buy you'll need to consider what kind of things you want to shoot because lenses are more spe******ed tools. And it's because they're spe******ed that that's where the cost tends to start adding up. Sorry if that's a bit rambling, it's early in the morning here.

I am assuming you are looking to do sports type photography, I would rule out the 1000D based on it's weird slow down when shooting in Raw to 1.5 FPS and it can only buffer 4 shots. The XSI is a touch better at 3.5 FPS and 6 raw. The T1i and T2i are 3.4 and 3.7 FPS and I don't know how big the buffer is. Unless you have a reason to stay in this bracket of Canon like you already have lenses, a end of line (on sale) Nikon D90 or the new Sony A33 and A55 will offer much faster speeds (5, 7, and 10 FPS respectively) Do lots of research and be sure what you want to use it for. Once you are invested in a system (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Pentax, u4/3, etc) it can be a real pain and expense to change.

Best of luck with your decision.

The T1i/T2i is a great camera if you can stretch the budget a bit.

the canon 40D also has a high fps of 6.5, and since it's now a couple generations old you could probably find one for a very reasonable price. and even though it's not the newest, the xxD line is a tier above the xxxD (digital rebel) line, and it is a very nice quality camera

Default EOS 550D or Rebel T2i?

I've the same question. I'm looking to buy a DSLR this December initially since I like taking pictures and next to eventually earn from taking photos. I checked online and these are the two cams I'm interested in:

Canon U.S.A. : Consumer & Home Office : EOS Rebel T2i EF-S 18-55mm IS Kit

and

EOS 550D - Digital Cameras - Canon Philippines

Can you guys help me decide on which one would be best for a beginner like me?
