Default 1d mkii N or 7d?

Okay. I know these threads must get old. Very old but I need advice and my friends are not photographers. .. well most of them aren't

I want to spend around $1200 (well I'd LIKE to spend over 5000 but that's not feasable. . lol) for a new body to replace my terminal Rebel XTI. My camera has served me well but I out grew it long ago. I tend to shoot in extreme conditions (not just harsh environment but low light where a flash isn't doable, dark arenas where I am not linked to the flash system) I am doing okay with what I have but I'm going to upgrade to better glass of course and while I had planned to do that first I over used my camera and it's on it's last leg. .

SO I had all but decided on buying a used 1d mk ii N body that fits in my budget when my head was turned by all the bells and whistles on the 7d. I know the 7d is great in low light, takes pretty videos (which I've never needed but would use), is newer, more mps, etc. . . but the 1d mk ii N is a work horse, tough as nails, FAR better than what I'm making it with now. . .

So what should I pick? I shoot mostly equine (horse) events in dusty arenas, barns, outdoors, indoors, and then some portraits for people who won't quit calling lol. (not my passion).

and THANKS! for the advice in advance!

If you're a feature-creature, resolution junkie, or video geek, or have a bunch of EF-S lenses, go for the 7D. If you want the hardiness, vertical grip, and weather-sealing of the 1 series, then go for the 1D IIN.

For me, personally, I'd prefer a 7D (my 50D is too big and heavy for me as it is), but getting one for $1200 means used or refurbed via the Canon Loyalty Program. Canon's regular refurb price is $1350+tax, and new retail from B&H is $1600.
