Default Wide angle lens eos 400d

Hello all.

I am new to this photography game, but i am loving the quality of the pictures i get of my kids. I have a question probably seems an insult to some pros but here goes. I have an eos 400d i am looking to buy a wide angle lens converter. the lens i have on it is sigma 28-135mm 62mm. I have looked on ebay but cant find a wide angle lens converter to fit. Do i need an adapter to change the size from 62mm to a smaller one. cheers anthony

It's probably a sign!

Seriously, dont. You'll get somethng that'll likely give you the same view as an 18-55 lens: just get one of those.

Oh right OK. so an 18-55 lens would give me a wider angle picture compared to my 28-135 mm

Thanks for the info

Not always.

Canon and others make 10/12-22/24's zooms that are not fish eyes, just very wide angle although you do tend to get a bit of distortion at the wide end.

Example using a Tokina 12-24 @ 12mm on a Canon 40D

If you're okay with your wide angle work being done with a separate lens, you may also want to look into an ultrawide lens, like the one RichardTaylor demos above, in addition to your 28-135. The Canon EF-S 10-22, the Sigma 10-20, the Tokina 11-16, etc. etc. There are a bunch of these out right now.

Fisheyes can be 15mm, but not always. But if you don't want the curved/bulgy distortion of a fisheye, what you're looking for is a rectilinear wide or ultrawide instead.

If you just want regular wide-angle in a large zoom range, then the new EF-S 18-135 IS might be worth looking at.
