Default Two Pictures

Hi
I took a picture with a new fugi S1800 and near the same picture with an older (maybe 3+ years) Canon Rebel XS both in auto mode. The Rebel has the EF-S18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 and the Fugi says f=5.0 - 90.0mm 1:3.1--5.lenses
I find the Canon washed out. Would a new Canon Rebel XS be any better. Thanks for viewing and /or comments.

One more thing I notice was the fugi can take a 5+ meg picture while the large in the canon comes in at 1.5 meg. I tried raw but when I converted it came down to 1.5 meg.

As far as the picture quality is concerned, it looks like the lens is fogged somehow.
As far as size; you dont know how to use your camera.

I will say two things about these pictures. But first a question, how cold was it? The Canon photo reminds me of when I take photos outside on cold days after taking my camera from a warm, humid place and the lens fogs up. Also the canon photo looks like it may be out of focus as it is not as clear.

Sorry for the delay to answer as I thought I did. Thanks Osmos and Happy for viewing and your comments. Yes that could have been the reason for the difference. I was think I may also need a filter on the Canon?? And yes I do not know very much at all about the camera but since I posted this, I have been reading and watching u tube quite a bit and have come to realize this is not a cheap nor an easy past time, but I do enjoy the learning process.

A filter wont do anything: it looks like there was condensation on the lens that made that "fog" look.

Take the time to read the manual, fully.
