I've noticed that with my t2i that volume of the motor when it comes to taking a shot is louder than most. Not that it's broken or anything, just that I can hear it much more with this camera than with other DSLRs. Is this unique to the t2i? Is it a consumer/pro camera difference?
I have no problems with my camera whatsoever, just a curious question. Thanks! |

Which motor?

The motor that activates the shutter. Just to make sure I wasn't hearing things, I removed the lens altogether and snapped a few. Still just seems like it's loud. I should add that it isn't broken or anything

There is no motor that activates the shutter: the shutter is a spring mechanism. It's supposed to make noise: that's the sound of the mirror moving around and the shutter curtains.

I find all of Canon's shutter mechanisms to be really quiet, actually. What are you comparing it to?

Yup, that's quiet. Sounds like a chirping bird. Wait until you hear the shutter on a 7D or a 5D series.
Of course, Im used to the clank of a 35mm and 120 cameras as well. Still never understood how my uncle used to shoot weddings on 120.
