Default Autoexposure Bracketing

(Sorry if I posted in wrong forum, I'm probably just overlooking it and didn't see a "Help" Forum)

I have a Rebel XTi 400D. I want to use the Autoexposure Bracketing function but for the life of me I can't get it to take 3 pictures on it's own. I have the camera set on continuous shooting mode. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks a lot!!

You have to hold the button down.

Or you could just RTFM.

For your first sentence, thanks. That is useful information.

As for the second part, I did read it. If it would have told me what you did, I wouldn't have had to ask. Do you ever give anybody the benefit of doubt before you try to make them feel smaller than you? Or are you just an as$ by nature?

Don't worry, someone just peed in Eric's wheaties this morning!

The key is to hold down the shutter button. If you don't, it will take only a single exposure.

For reference, I usually keep my Nikon is "continuous" mode, because I can easily take a single shot by just pressing the shutter button once, but I can immediately get a bunch of shots by holding it down longer. Very convenient.

Good questions! So, if you setup exposure bracketing and continuous shooting, it will take the 3 different exposures and recycle? How do you keep up with something like that?

At 3FPS it's not hard
At 6FPS (40D) it can be.

You can also use it in single shot mode.

I use bracketing with single shot mode and I frequently forget that I have it on. lol

The flexibility of having 3 shots is great, but keeping track of them can get tricky.

Nice tip, I usually just keep it set on single shot and make sure to snap in 3s.

When I bracket shoot I always use the single shot mode. I am assuming that your might be using the images for an post processed HDR (High Dynamic Range) image. With HDR's, most software meant to handle these will auto align the picture if you make slight movement.

The main reason I shoot single mode is that I usually end up with it restarting the cycle with the first picture again ending up with four images and 2 the same.

Hope this was of some help to you..

Keep shooting
