Default Canon Rebel T1i & Video Problem

Hey,

I'm looking for some help on a problem I seem to have. When using video on my camera, it only goes for about 20s. It doesn't matter what video resolution I'm using. The SD card has more than enough space on it (as I can start another video and another and another in succession). Anyone have thoughts on how I'd make it actually video longer? I can't seem to find instructions in the manual to detail it.

Sincerely,
Philippe

How FAST is the card?

HD video is big, and the camera's buffer isn't. If your camera cant write to the card fast enough, then youre running into bottlenecking issues.

If youre recording video at the highest rate, you need a class 6 or higher card according to canon. You should see a litte number in a circle on the card somewhere. 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10.
On the t1i, an 8gb card will hold over 350 RAW files, and something like 40 mins of video.
I use a sandisc ultra II class 6 (8gb) in mine. Ive used a class 4 at the lower resolution (640x480) and it seems to work fine. buy good name brand memory - dont just run out and get a cheap/large card. Youre better off getting a 8gb class 6 than a 16gb class 2. I use sandisc pretty much exclusively. Had a transcend card fail on me and lost stuff.

Awesome! thank you. I was using an old SanDisk (2) that I had. The only higher speed one I had was a transcend, but I tested with it and it worked. I appreciate the information.
