I'd try and pick up a cheaper body (any thing Canon has released since 2008 will do the job Rebel's are good starter cameras with the XXD's being the next step up with a bit more control) and spend my money on one or two good lenses. E-bay is a place to look and do not shy away from refurbished equipment (but only if it is manufacture refubished, I got my 40D body that way - no problems with it at all, just like new!)
Lenses are a personal thing. Do you like a prime lenses or zooms? IQ really isn't an issue anymore, it is more a question of how you take pictures and what you are comfotable with; I like primes because they force me to walk about a bit and I ofter discover new angle I might not of thought of using a zoom and staying stationary. Canon''s L series are the best but hard on the wallet. If you like macro the EF 100mm prime gets great reviews (I've not tried it however). I have an old EF 35-70mm (1987 make) that I bought used and get alot great pictures with it. My two bits. Hope it helps and have a good time with your new goodies! |
