Smile everybody please help me!!

Hello everybody. I still new in this photographic world looking for my first DSLR camera and I need you all advice here. I actually had decided to buy the Nikon D3000 but my friend used Canon EOS 1000D. The Canon EOS 1000D picture and quality were so awesome and make me jealous with my friend. So I make a survey for the specification, features and all the information I get from the internet sources. I have made a comparison but still need expert and experience user to guide me. I had decided on the D3000 or EOS 1000D for financial reasons as it was in my price range. So to not waste our time, what camera should I buy between Nikon D3000 and Canon EOS 1000D? Most importantly what is the advantage and disadvantage for both cameras? I hope that I will get a good feedback from you all. All the information and advice is much appreciated. Thank you for your cooperation.

If it's your first DSLR, you aren't going to see any real significant difference between the two. I don't think your decision should be made based on features, which for all intents and purposes are identical here.

You should probably make your decision based on how deep into the hobby you think you'll get. Generally once you buy into a brand, it becomes economically ahrder to switch over -- if you buy more lenses, flashes, etc., they won't translate over to another brand.

If you don't think you'll be very serious about it and won't go much further than the basic kit, go somewhere you can try both cameras out and pick the one that feels most comfortable to you.

If you do think you'll be serious and spend significant money on lens and camera upgrades, it's a complicated decision. I would lean Canon here for a couple of reasons, Primarily because your friend has one and you'll be able to trade/borrow lenses and accessories. Secondly, the high level Canon lenses tend to be a bit less expensive than their Nikon equivalents, and there's a bit of confusion as Nikon transitions from focus motor in-body to focus motor in-lens.

One advantage Nikon has is a superior overall flash system, so if you think you'll get into heavier portraiture or things like studio food/product photography, it's something to consider.

I have the Canon 1000D and would highly recommend it. Have had it about a year and a half and haven't regretted my purchase yet. That being said I couldn't really say anything either way regards the Nikon though I know people who are more than happy with theirs. I think the advice given above is excellent and covers pretty much any consideration you have. I'd say if you like your friend's Canon then perhaps that's what you should consider buying - I bought my first digital camera because a friend had one and I liked that model. And your friend would be able to help you learn how to use your camera!
Whichever you choose, good luck, hope to see some of the results here.
